The Side Seat..

THE SECOND SEAT

It was dark and she had to catch the last bus. The street lights were faintly showing her her way. She was enjoying the silence on the road, but was scared too. The night was cool with gentle breeze which cheered her. After waiting for some minutes, the bus arrived. It had some people in it but all were strangers for her. She occupied a vacant seat, to avoid any sort of awkwardness, started looking out of the window. After some minutes, a passenger sat next to her. He said, “I wanted to make sure you are not travelling home alone.” She looked at him, for the affection he had in his eyes, even after decades of their marriage. She felt peaceful as she kept her head on his shoulder till the bus reached their destination.
